# Edit prose
|
|
|
|
1. Read the text, audience, author voice, and constraints. Preserve the author's
|
|
claims, uncertainty, numbers, citations, quotations, and meaningful terminology.
|
|
2. Locate filler, vague claims, decorative contrast, redundant lists, and mechanical
|
|
rhythm. Use [tell patterns](references/tells.md) only when useful; matches are
|
|
review candidates, not defects or proof of AI authorship.
|
|
3. State the actual claim directly, trim repetition, and keep concrete evidence.
|
|
Preserve real comparisons, useful lists, and honest hedges. Do not fabricate
|
|
detail, force short sentences, inject slang, or alter claims to clear a regex.
|
|
4. Read the result once for meaning and register. Rescan only if a substantial
|
|
rewrite may have introduced another problem. Stop when the text is clear;
|
|
zero regex hits and fixed sentence-length quotas are not completion criteria.
|
|
5. Deliver the edited text or requested file. Explain material edits when helpful;
|
|
no mandatory diagnostic table or pass count.
|
|
|
|

Use the author's supplied examples first. The optional
|
|
[Vasily voice profile](../../../JEV/.agents/protocols/style-protocol.md) applies when
|
|
writing as Vasily or for JEV, not to every author's text.
